The hop on hop off bus Barcelona working hours are refreshingly simple: service runs daily from 9:00 to 19:00, all year, with only two closure days — 1 January and 25 December. There's no weekly day off and no siesta break; buses circulate continuously on both routes.
First and Last Buses
- First departures: between 9:00 and 9:30 from most of the 44 stops. Plaça de Catalunya, the main terminus, is at the earlier end.
- Last departure: 19:00 from Plaça de Catalunya on both routes. Later stops along the loop see the final bus pass after that as it completes the circuit.
- Planning rule: board no later than ~17:00 if you want one uninterrupted full loop — each route takes about two hours.
Don't get stranded: if you hop off far from the centre late in the afternoon — say Park Güell or Montjuïc — make sure you're back at a stop before the last bus passes. After 19:00 you're on the metro or a taxi.

The 9:00–19:00 window holds across the year, but the experience differs:

Night Tour Hours (Summer Only)
The regular hop-on hop-off service ends at 19:00 — after dark, the operator runs a separate guided Night Tour in the summer season, departing at 21:30 from Plaça de Catalunya and lasting about 1.5 hours. Timing Is Everything
- 9:00–10:00 is the golden hour: empty top decks, cool air in summer, and attractions along the route just opening.
- Midday (11:00–14:00) is peak boarding time at Plaça de Catalunya and the Sagrada Família stop. If you must ride then, board one stop away from the big landmarks.
- 16:00 onwards quiets down again — good light for Montjuïc and seafront photos, but watch the last-bus times.

How Ticket Validity Interacts With Opening Hours
Your 24h/48h ticket runs on a rolling clock from first boarding — but the buses stop at 19:00. In practice a 24-hour ticket activated at 15:00 gives you four hours of riding that evening plus the full 9:00–15:00 window the next day. How to Get There for the First Bus
